On December 6, 2019, the fourth quarter of 2019 regular meeting of the Rural Sanitation Working Group was held in Hanoi. 
Dr. Ass. Professor Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Director of Department of Health Environment Management (VIHEMA), Ministry of Health and Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hoa, Coordinator of Coordination Unit of Partnership on Rural Water Supply and Sanitation co-chaired the meeting.
Participated in the meeting were participants from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Ministry of Construction; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Planning and Investment; Ministry of Education and Training; Committee for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, Vietnam Women's Union; Vietnam Red Cross Association, Vietnam Farmers Association, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, Institute of Industrial and Environmental Health; Representatives of international and non-governmental organizations such as UNICEF, WHO, Global Water and Sanitation Partnership (WSA), BORDA, CWS, IDE, World Vision, USAID / PHAD, Viet Nam Water and Health Alliance South, CCHIP; companies representing the private sector such as ROTO, Hanoi water company, UNILEVER and the press agencies Environmental Health Magazine. 
Especially participated in the meeting is SWA High-Level Delegation including Mr. Patrick Moriarty - president of SWA, Ms. Catarina de Albuquerque - CEO of SWA and member of SWA steering committee.
The meeting was organized within the framework of quarterly operation of Partnership rural sanitation Working Group chaired by VIHEMA/ Ministry of Health, with the aim of updating and sharing information on legal documents, policies, institutions and activities of water and sanitation programs and projects of the Government and domestic and international organizations in Vietnam.
At the meeting, participants shared updates on the progress of sanitation, the situation of urban and rural clean water supply in Vietnam, water and sanitation services in health facilities; sharing global experience on cooperation, financial allocation and government participation in clean water and sanitation; monitor and supervise water quality of small scaled clean water supply systems for villages and schools.
Participants discussed how to continue investing in finding a suitable long-term solutions, improving water and sanitation services, especially improving awareness and behavioral change for ethnic people. ethnic minorities and remote areas, encourage private participation, develop software to monitor water quality, toilets, maintain hygiene, maintain sustainability of water and sanitation sevrices as well as open defecation free.
